The date of birth for singers taking part in the competition must be after 1 January 1980. Candidates submit a completed application form, including a detailed curriculum vitae, educational references and listing of professional experience as well as a photo and, if possible, recommendations from teachers or tutors.

The competition accepts a maximum of 80 participants. Selection of the candidates is based on the application and determined by several jury members. Candidates will be notified personally.

Thirty singers will be selected for the semi-finals. Eight to ten singers will be selected for the finals.

The repertoire for the competition consists of opera arias and lieder from various epochs. For further information, see the competition rules. Candidates may choose any aria for the preliminary rounds. The arias for the finals must be agreed upon with the jury.

The application fee is CHF 100.-. The Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger cannot assume any banking fees. Please ensure that the fee of CHF 100.- is paid in full to the Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger.
