Artistic Director & Board of Directors

As the artistic director of the Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger and a member of the jury, Dominique Mentha guarantees the artistic quality of the competition.

Board of Directors:

Werner Luginbühl, member of Council of States
Werner Luginbühl was elected as a councillor in 1998 and was director of the Judicial, Community and Church Department in the canton of Bern until 2007. He had been a member of the SVP (Swiss People’s Party) since 1994, when he in support of the Conservative Democratic Party, which he co-founded in June 2008. In 2007 he was elected as a member of the Council of States for the canton of Bern.

Dr. Aviel Cahn
Director Vlaamse Opera, Antwerp/Gent, initiated the Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger and served as the first artistic director of the competition. He is a board member of the trustees and jury member.

Christoph Müller
Director of the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad and concomitantly the Director of the Basel Chamber Orchestra.

Beat Luginbühl
Representative of the Board of Directors for the KonzertTheaterBern. He is president of the Friends & Patrons of the KonzertTheaterBern.

Maestro Claudio Abbado, Honorary Member
Maestro Claudio Abbado was named honorary member to the board of directors for the Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger 2010.

Maestro James Levine, Honorary Member
Maestro James Levine from New York was named honorary member to the board of directors for the Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger 2010.
